Suo padre \u00e8 sinologo, sua madre insegnante di piano. L\u2019attivit\u00e0 del padre, docente universitario, permette al giovane Wilfrid di vivere in diverse citt\u00e0 europee e di familiarizzare con la loro cultura. La casa dei genitori a Zurigo \u00e8 frequentata da molti artisti-pittori zurighesi fra i quali Otto Baumberger, Albert Pfister, Henri Wabel.<\/p>\n<p>Esperienze personali e letterarie, impressioni di viaggio e frequentazioni di esposizioni lo influenzano profondamente e lo inducono, ancora in et\u00e0 infantile, a produrre dei disegni (giardini zoologici, paesaggi cittadini da Mille e una notte, pattinatori ecc.) che impressionano per il suo senso del colore e la soggiacente forza poetica. che impressionano per il suo senso del colore e la soggiacente forza poetica. Alcuni di questi disegni vengono pubblicati nel 1930 dalla rivista <em>Schweizer Spiegel<\/em>.<\/p>[\/et_pb_text][et_pb_text _builder_version=&#8221;4.17.3&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221; theme_builder_area=&#8221;post_content&#8221;]<h2>Gli anni Venti<\/h2>\n<p>Con la famiglia abita a lungo a Siena, il cui duomo diventa uno dei temi chiave dell\u2019artista. Ha anche occasione di soggiornare per lunghi periodi a Venezia, dove \u00e8 affascinato dalla Giudecca: un\u2019esperienza della fanciullezza a cui ritorner\u00e0 continuamente nella sua opera.<\/p>\n<p>Nel 1929 il giovane Wilfrid diventa Re del Tiro della citt\u00e0 di Zurigo (<em>Sch\u00fctzenk\u00f6nig<\/em>). Gi\u00e0 nel 1931 sceglie di diventare pittore, ma per mezzo anno ancora (insieme a Michael Mann) continua la sua formazione musicale con Wilhelm de Boor, allora primo violino dell\u2019orchestra della Tonhalle, e approfondisce i suoi studi nel violino classico, strumento che aveva iniziato a suonare sin da piccolo al Conservatorio di Zurigo. Intraprende viaggi a Parigi, a Berlino, in Italia e in Unione Sovietica. Fa visita a Ensor a Ostenda. Viaggia con Nicolas de Sta\u00ebl. Fra il 1935 e il 1938 si reca in Marocco e in Spagna.  Nel 1939, prima dello scoppio del conflitto mondiale, soggiorna a Parigi. A Zurigo fa la conoscenza di Varlin, che lo invita ad esporre con lui. Si sposa con Jeanne Gysi. Prende casa a Ronco s\/Ascona, dove costruisce un atelier. Nel 1942 nasce il figlio Niklaus Manuel, che muore poco tempo dopo la nascita. Nel 1944 nasce Gabriel. Durante la guerra produce una serie di incisioni su legno con scene di guerra.<\/p>\n<p>Immediatamente dopo la fine della guerra ritorna a Parigi, dove abita in Rue de l\u2019Ancienne Com\u00e9die. All\u2019inizio ritorna al figurativo e i suoi temi principali sono: le stazioni della metropolitana, le Maisons ouvertes, le macellerie e i Jardins des Plantes, metafore dell\u2019esistenza umana. L\u2019opera di Moser di quel periodo \u00e8 caratterizzata dal dialogo fra la pittura francese e l\u2019espressionismo tedesco. Nel 1956 si divide da Jeanne. Nel 1958 conosce Eva Rosa Puig, figlia dello scrittore Puig y Ferreter, che quale ex Ministro degli Interni del governo repubblicano della Catalogna vive dal 1936 in esilio in Francia. Si sposa alla fine dell\u2019anno e intraprende con Eva un viaggio in Spagna. Nel 1985 rappresenta la Svizzera alla Biennale di Venezia. Nel 1959 prende parte alla 5. Biennale di Sao Paulo. Moser diventa una degli esponenti di punta del Tachisme a Parigi, sostenuto dai critici d\u2019arte Roger Van Gindertael, Herta Wescher e Charles Estienne. <\/p>\n<p>La pittura astratta gestuale di Moser degli anni cinquanta si differenza sin dall\u2019inizio nella sua espressivit\u00e0 dalla pittura della Seconda Scuola di Parigi. Segno caratteristico di questo periodo \u00e8 la tache, un tratto di spatola dinamico. Che si estrinseca in un bicordo o in una triade contrastanti. In tal modo la superficie del quadro prende ritmo, costruisce spazi e li trasforma in fauci e in abissi. La sua interpretazione della metropoli potrebbe essere considerata come una variet\u00e0 della Pop Art e una prefigurazione della \u201cpittura selvaggia\u201d degli anni ottanta.  <\/p>\n<p>I temi del M\u00e9tro (i sotterranei della metropoli), di Euriloco e delle portinerie assumono, per la prima volta nella storia dell\u2019arte, una dimensione mitologica. Dal 1965 la pittura si allarga al tridimensionale: rilievi in legno, assemblaggi di assi, le prime sculture, alcune delle quali possono essere visitate all\u2019interno. Nel 1971 conosce la storica dell\u2019arte Tina Gr\u00fctter.  Dal 1971 al 1978 \u00e8 presidente centrale della Societ\u00e0 dei pittori, degli scultori e degli architetti svizzeri (SPSS).<\/p>\n<p>Le sculture in materiale sintetico a strisce rosso-bianche (piccole e grandi sculture, alcune delle quali percorribili all\u2019interno) diventano segno di riconoscimento dell\u2019artista, che per\u00f2 poi sperimenta nuove forme pittoriche. Per accrescere la dimensione visionaria della terza dimensione, l\u2019artista ritorna dalla scultura alla tela. Negli anni ottanta viaggia molto per visitare le pi\u00f9 importanti collezioni d\u2019arte europee e si reca pi\u00f9 volte a Venezia.<\/p>\n<p>Dal 1985 al 1993 \u00e8 membro della Commissione acquisti del Kunsthaus di Zurigo. Sviluppa ulteriormente il realismo spaziale espressivo dipingendo una serie di alberi e di frammenti del sottobosco. Alla met\u00e0 degli anni ottanta riprende la pittura gestuale. I corpi pietrificati compatti si dissolvono, le strutture del sottobosco realistico mutano in intrecci di linee colorate.<\/p>\n<p>I percorsi motori sfociano in ritmi dinamici, le composizioni simboleggiano le lotte storiche e mitologiche ma esprimono i turbamenti di Moser per gli eventi di quel periodo. Stratificazioni di temi svolti in passato che si riassemblano in un tema unico grazie alla struttura lineare mossa e guizzante. Nel 1989 riceve il Premio artistico della citt\u00e0 di Zurigo (Laudatio di Stanislaus von Moos). Continua a dipingere intensificando l\u2019espressione coloristica e l\u2019espressivit\u00e0 della linea.
